The sky will be clear for the start of the work week in the Chicago region, but that won’t last. Monday will be the warmest day, with temperatures in the high 30s to low 40s. On Monday night, things are expected to alter as snowfall begins.
Tuesday morning’s commute might see the start of widespread snow showers, and the area could get snow for the next several days. The National Weather Service predicts that Tuesday will have a chance of snow showers throughout the day, with the opportunity of accumulation highest in the morning.

At the end of it all, we can expect minor accumulations under these conditions, which are projected to last until at least Thursday. One to two inches of snow is probable to the north and west of Chicago, with locally more significant totals, while one inch of snow is expected to the south of the city.
The other significant difference in the forecast is the expected drop in already abnormally low temperatures. Highs this week will struggle to get into the mid-20s, and they won’t even break that threshold until Friday. Long-range predictions predict lows in the teens for the week leading up to the following weekend.
