Weird Weather Hits Chicago as Warm Thursday Shifts to Snowy Friday

When a warm Thursday changes into a snowy Friday afternoon, dropping temperatures from 73 to 39 degrees, Chicago experiences unusual weather.

Thursday is expected to be exceptionally warm, with a high temperature in the city of 73 F, according to the National Weather Service. The day will be mostly sunny with gusts of wind up to 30 mph.

But that will swiftly change on Friday because highs are only expected to reach 47 degrees, and a low of 39 degrees is conceivable by 5 PM. The day will begin cloudy and gradually become partly sunny and breezy.

 

On Saturday, there’s a risk of flurries, but no heavy snowfall is forecast. According to Block Club Chicago, the city’s first snowflakes of the season arrived in mid-October.

The National Weather Service predicts that this afternoon will be largely sunny and that the high temperature will be around 76. With a south wind of 15 to 20 mph, it will be windy. During this time, wind gusts may reach 30 mph.

A 20% possibility of showers will develop by tonight’s end. A low of 46 degrees will be experienced with mainly cloudy skies. 10 to 15 mph southerly wind will give way to northwest wind after midnight. At this moment, wind gusts of up to 30 mph are possible.

Veterans Day will start mainly cloudy before turning mostly sunny. By 4 PM, the temperature will have dropped to around 39. A 15 mph wind out of the northwest will be the predominant wind, with gusts as high as 25 mph.

 

Increasing clouds will cover the skies on Friday night when the low is expected to be around 31 degrees. At 10 to 15 mph, the northwest wind will blow. Up to 25 mph wind gusts are anticipated throughout this time.

The outlook for Saturday indicates a likelihood of snowflakes. A temperature of about 40 degrees will be experienced with mainly cloudy skies. There will be a 10 to 15 mph west-northwest wind, with a top wind gust of 20 mph. Flurries could occur before Saturday midnight. The low temperature will be approximately 27 degrees with partly cloudy skies.

With a high temperature of around 38 degrees on Sunday, the sky will be mainly sunny. The low temperature on Sunday night will be approximately 28, with mainly cloudy skies.

The outlook for Monday calls for mainly cloudy skies and a temperature of about 42 degrees. The region is expected to experience a probability of snow after midnight. With a largely cloudy sky, temperatures will drop to 31 degrees.

In the Chicago metropolitan region on Tuesday, there is a risk of both snow and rain. Low of 29 and mainly overcast conditions are expected for Tuesday night. On Wednesday, there will be some sunshine and a high temperature of around 40.
