Over four million signatures have been collected for the approval of a fourth stimulus check through an online petition.
This has generated strong interest among Americans who anticipate the Congress and the Senate response.
On another hand, 5,000 low-income households will receive $500 payments each month on top of the stimulus funds.
The checks have been proven to be an effective means of alleviating poverty. Food, medicine, and rental bills are the items that are bought with this money. It improved recipients’ well-being by decreasing their anxiety and depression. By providing immediate financial relief, it reduces the unemployment rate.
Many Americans, however, are still in need of a fourth stimulus.
Almost 4 million signatures have been collected for a fourth stimulus check after the federal government did not announce or give any approval for a fourth stimulus check.

Stephanie Bonin, an owner of a Denver restaurant, launched today’s most popular online petition, which has already collected 2,953,018 signatures so far out of its 3 million goals. To help Americans in the midst of the pandemic, Bonin proposed recurring checks for $2,000 over the course of the epidemic.
Several other petitions, including Bonin’s, reached 1 million signatures collectively, according to Yahoo! Finance. Counting both of these requests together, there are over 4 million Americans seeking approval for a fourth stimulus check.
Congress and the White House have yet to respond to these petitions regardless.
The Basic Income Program: Payments of $500 Monthly to Chicago residents
Several government agencies authorized basic income pilot projects in their cities in addition to online petitions.
A new basic income program (the largest in US.) in Chicago has just been approved by Chicago’s city council.
5,000 low-income households will receive $500 monthly payments for one year through the program.
In an interview with Insider, Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot said, “growing up, I knew what it felt like to live check to check. When you’re in need, every bit of income helps.” This pilot program aims to assist vulnerable families facing the effects of this epidemic.
The pandemic resulted in hundreds of thousands of Chicagoans losing their jobs. A total of 18 percent of the residents ended up below the poverty line.

Applicants to the program must meet certain criteria to be eligible to receive The New Basic Program. The following are the requirements:
- Chicago resident who has enrolled in City Colleges or has a dependent: (a) who is enrolled in Chicago Public Schools or City Colleges or (b) who is not yet the minimum age to attend Chicago Public Schools;
- Negatively impacted by the COVID-19, especially on financial issues.
- Must have income at or below 300 percent of the federal poverty guidelines, less than $35,000 per year.
- Not employed of or elected officials of the City of Chicago or the State of Illinois.
For residents who meet these requirements, it is recommended that they apply as soon as possible.
