Worker Dies in Philadelphia Elevator Accident
A worker who was working on a building in South Philadelphia died early on Friday morning after falling down an elevator shaft. The victim was 48 years old.
The incident reportedly took place at approximately 10:30 a.m. at a business warehouse located on Wolf Street between South Lee Street and South Swanson Street, according to the police.
According to the initial report, the man fell twenty feet, sustained significant head damage, and was pronounced dead by medical personnel at the scene of the accident. On Friday, the individual’s name was withheld from public disclosure.

According to a representative for the Department of Licenses and Inspections, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), the national body that governs workplace safety, is conducting an inquiry into the event.
She did not agree to disclose any further information. OSHA’s spokeswoman was not immediately available for comment and could not be reached.
