A suspect who assaulted and stole from a woman at a Long Grove gas station has been apprehended by police. The guy then crashed the stolen car in Hawthorn Woods and ran away.

A 58-year-old Long Grove lady was pumping gas at a gas station in the 200 block of Robert Parker Coffin Road in Long Grove, according to Deputy Chief Christopher Covelli of the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.

At about 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, the woman had just finished pumping gas when she heard a crash. Victor Masick, 19, of Cicero was operating a silver Kia when it collided with a gas pump at the service station, according to Covelli.

After the crash, the man got out of the Kia, which was subsequently found to have been stolen from Berwyn. Masick went up to the victim as she got into her car and got in the driver’s seat.

According to Covelli, the perpetrator took the victim out of her automobile by force and attempted to take the vehicle. By retaliating, the victim regained her position behind the wheel of her vehicle.
