Where to See Labor Day Fireworks in Maryland? This and Other Big Labor Day Events! Update News

Initially, Labor Day began as a recognition of the social and economic contributions made by American workers. As years passed by, the holiday has become a celebration of the end of summer with many families coming together for parades, barbecues, and fireworks.

This year, because of the COVID-19 pandemic, certain safety measures have been adapted to keep people safe during the festivities. Authorities suggest attendees please wear masks and maintain a safe distance from one another.

These changes also mean that in some areas, there would no longer be any rides and games at the moment, such as the one in Greenbelt.

However, this doesn’t mean that the Labor Day Weekend would be any less fun. Here are some big events you have to watch out for in the remaining days of the Labor Day Weekend:

On Saturday, September 4

One of the most anticipated events is the Maryland Renaissance Festival in Annapolis. For more than forty-two seasons the Maryland Renaissance Festival has provided a unique outdoor entertainment experience to patrons from all over the world. The show starts at 5:30 p.m.–8:30 p.m. culminating in a 15-minute fireworks display at 8:30 p.m. The organizers are also reportedly partnering with the Baltimore City Health Department to offer free vaccinations and COVID tests by a local health care facility on site. They will also give out face masks and hand sanitizer as a reminder to stay safe during the event and attendees will be encouraged to practice social distancing.

Other events on this day include the National Hard Crab Derby in Crisfield, a Social Dance Showcase by Glen Echo, and a High Holidays Scavenger Hunt by Bender JCC of Greater Washington, Rockville.

This will also be the last day for the Baltimore Comedy Festival, which will feature comedy shows at venues like Motor House, the Baltimore Museum of Industry, and The Crown. Drunken driving prevention and awareness campaigns were also being held in Maryland and Virginia ahead of the Labor Day holiday to keep drivers and motorists safe during the events. These events included sobriety checkpoints, anti-drunken driving advertising and increased DUI patrols, and others.
