Official Trailer for Cobra Kai Season 5
On Netflix, in season 5 of ‘Cobra Kai,’ Terry Silver becomes a familiar foe for Danny, Johnny, and everyone else.
The question is whether to binge-watch or not to binge-watch. Fans who have already consumed all ten episodes of the new season of Cobra Kai have many questions. The most important is when in the karate hell will Cobra Kai Season 6 be available on Netflix.
We’ll get into the specifics below. The sixth season of the show has not been officially renewed. Should you be concerned? No. Not.
The season finale (no spoilers!) perfectly sets the stage for the sixth and possibly final season of this particular iteration of the series.
Beyond the sixth season, there could be spinoffs or additional seasons (or a Season 6 Part 1/Part two scenario) starring some of the cast, but based on the end of Season 5, it’s safe to assume that this particular story is coming to an end.
One possibility is that the show will follow in the footsteps of Stranger Things, with Netflix announcing a final season (two parts) and possibly a spinoff. Only time will tell.
Let’s get back to work, shall we? When will Cobra Kai Season 6 premiere on Netflix? Here’s what we know so far.
Has Season 6 of Cobra Kai been renewed?
Netflix has yet to renew Cobra Kai for a second season officially, but don’t worry. We’re 99.9% sure the show will return for a sixth season based on the show’s massive popularity, the events of the season finale, and various other factors.
When Is Cobra Kai Season 6 Coming to Netflix?
Cobra Kai’s release date has historically been difficult to predict.
The first two seasons followed a fairly regular schedule, but the show’s transition from YouTube to Netflix resulted in a significant delay:
- Season 1 premiered on May 2, 2018
- Season 2 premiered on April 24, 2019
- Season 3 premiered on January 1, 2021
- Season 4 premiered on December 31, 2021
- Season 5 premiering on September 9, 2022
No official information has been released but based on previous data. We anticipate Cobra Kai Season 6 to arrive on Netflix in mid-to-late 2023, with September being our best guess. When new information becomes available, Decider will update this story.

Season 6 release date rumors for Cobra Kai
Season 6 of Cobra Kai has yet to be officially announced by Netflix.
The good news is that showrunner Jon Hurwitz has plans for a sixth season. In a tweet to a fan, he said, “Season 6 has not yet been written.” I’ll get to it after filming Obliterated, but I already have a lot of great ideas!”
Season 6 has not yet been written. Will get on that after filming Obliterated, but lots of kickass ideas already percolating! #CobraKai https://t.co/fpNGGe2bp6

The output for the last few seasons has been faster than usual, with Cobra Kai filming two back-to-back seasons. Still, even if season 6 is commissioned, we can probably expect a slightly longer gap between seasons than we’ve seen thus far.
Season 6 plot speculation for Cobra Kai
Again, no, season 6 of Cobra Kai is not greenlit, so it’s difficult to predict what the plot would be — but season 5 provided plenty of material.
Although season 5 ended with Cobra Kai abandoning their shady dojo and tossing their gis at Silver, Miyagi Do/Eagle Fang/Miyagi Fang appears to be still going strong as they compete in the Sekai Taikai international championships.
Without competing dojos, Johnny (William Zabka) and Daniel (Ralph Macchio) grew closer as friends, but will the stress of the Sekai Taikai reignite their rivalry?
In addition, Terry Silver (Thomas Ian Griffith), imprisoned by Cobra Kai’s other founder, John Kresse (Martin Kove), has escaped after faking his death with the help of some red jello.
Season 6 premiere date for Robbie and Miguel in Cobra Kai
Silver is defeated, but Kreese, knowing Kreese, will have revenge in mind when he (inevitably) returns to the Valley, especially after Daniel and Johnny duped him into sharing Silver secrets.
Then there’s his relationship with Tory, which soured when she became his mole at a high personal cost. Tory (Peyton List) is in a tentative truce with Samantha (Mary Mouser), but it’s unclear how long that will last — and other Cobra Kai kids, like Kenny (Dallas Dupree Young), are likely to face a long journey to undo the rage instilled in them by their senseis.
While the kids are preoccupied with the Sekai Taikai, Johnny will most likely continue to prepare for his child with Carmen (Vanessa Rubio). Who will be the half-brother of both Miguel (Xolo Mariduea) and Robbie (Tanner Buchanan)? Hopefully, we will see what happens after Chozen (Yuji Don Okumoto) drunk-dialed Kumiko (Tamlyn Tomita) to confess his
A season 6 without the Cobra Kai dojo would look very different — but it wouldn’t be short on drama.
