A man was shot in hand by Chicago police on Wednesday night during an altercation in the West Pullman area. The incident reportedly took place on Wednesday around the corner from 127th Street and Wentworth.
A 52-year-old man with a shotgun came out of a house around 5:25 p.m. and opened fire on a 47-year-old male, killing him. After that, the man allegedly went back inside the house to grab a gun and returned to the scene. He walked down the street and was met by Chicago law enforcement. Officers demanded that he put down the weapon, but when he aimed it at someone else, they fired, hitting the suspect in hand.
The suspect and the victim were sent to local hospitals, receiving treatment for non-life-threatening injuries. The Civilian Office of Police Accountability will investigate the shooting, and the officers involved will be placed on routine administrative duty for 30 days.
