Washington Man Dies In East Peoria Motorcycle Crash At 40
East Peoria police report that a man died after losing control of his motorbike while traveling on U.S. Route 24 close to the Illinois Central College campus.
About an hour after the incident, at 5:41 p.m. on Tuesday, 40-year-old Bobbie Neltner was declared deceased by Tazewell County Coroner Charles Hanley.
Neltner died on Wednesday from multiple blunt force trauma injuries resulting from the incident, according to a preliminary autopsy report.
The toxicology findings of the lab tests are awaiting, as mandated by state law, according to Hanley.
According to East Peoria Police Chief David Catton, the rider was traveling west on Route 24 when the collision with College Drive happened at approximately 4:40 p.m. on Tuesday.
“Witnesses said it was traveling at a high rate of speed, and for some reason, he lost control and ended up crashing,” the chief said.

Neltner was flung from the motorcycle when it pulled into a grassy area, according to the coroner. According to Hanley, he landed in a wooded area. There were no other cars involved.
There are no steep turns or curves along that section of Route 24. The chief said that the reason for the crash is still being looked into.
Tazewell County Coroner Charles Hanley stated that additional details would be provided later on once his agency finished the man’s autopsy.
