A single-vehicle fatal incident on I-20 just east of the Start exit prompted troopers with Louisiana State Police Troop F to start an investigation on Saturday, October 28, 2023, just after 7 PM. The incident claimed the life of Vincent Moody, an Indiana resident, 60.
It was discovered during the preliminary inquiry that Moody was heading west on I-20 while mounted on a 2008 Harley-Davidson motorcycle. ‘Moody collided with an inflatable jumper that was blocking the road, sending him flying from the bike.
During the event, Moody was not wearing a helmet that the Department of Transportation approved. He was taken to a nearby hospital and later declared dead.
After colliding with the inflatable jumper, another biker sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital for medical attention.

Although regular toxicological samples were gathered and will be submitted for investigation, impairment is not a suspected issue. Investigations into this crash are still ongoing.
