Drivers in Sugar House and Millcreek may have noticed fewer ongoing construction projects. The Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) temporarily stopped some construction work in these areas.
Progress on I-80 and I-215:
UDOT began major improvements in 2021 with the objective of widening I-80 by adding one extra lane from 1300 East to 2300 East. In addition, they repaired I-215, from 3300 South to 4500 South.

Delay Reasons and Future Plans:
While the majority of the work has been completed, minor tasks such as installing electronic signs and a railing remain unfinished.
According to UDOT spokesperson John Gleason, the final touches were postponed because the department was focused on completing the West Davis Highway project, which is set to open this weekend.
Gleason promised that the remaining work on I-80 and I-215 will be completed within a few months.
He stressed that, despite the inconveniences, these projects strive to make strategic decisions for the future that will benefit both present and future generations.
