Two 15-year-olds have been detained by the Salt Lake City Police Department (SLCPD) in connection with a recent homicide. They are thought to have ki!!ed 23-year-old Rory Swimm.
The SLCPD’s Homicide Squad, with assistance from its SWAT Team, Gang Unit, and Violent Criminal Apprehension Team (VCAT), made the arrests as part of a larger investigation. After many court-approved search warrants were carried out, the teenagers were taken into custody.
Following an incident early on Friday, October 13, 2023, arrests were made. At 600 East 200 South, a neighborhood resident reported seeing a man on the ground. Swimm was found shot at the scene and eventually died, according to emergency personnel from the Salt Lake City Fire Department and Gold Cross Ambulance.
Detectives with the SLCPD believe the shooting was not random. They think Swimm and his pals were the victims of the adolescents’ attἀcks following a dispute. After the incident, the suspects allegedly drove away from the site in a car.
Although a third person has been named in connection with the case, they are not currently charged. Due to their young age, the names of the teens have not been disclosed. A juvenile’s records, including judicial and legal records, may be disclosed under certain circumstances by the district attorney’s office or Utah State Courts.
