Two people died on Wednesday when a tree fell on their vehicle. The disaster occurred just before 3 p.m. in Cobb County, causing shockwaves throughout the neighborhood.
Victims Identified
The victims have been identified as 61-year-old Nicolay Boytchev, a resident of Smyrna, and 46-year-old Alberto Alvarado Nicacio, who lived in Marietta. They were in a 2019 Mercedes Benz Sprinter van, traveling west on South Cobb Drive, east of Lake Circle.
The Tree’s Tragic Fall
The fatal accident took place in the right lane of South Cobb Drive when a tree, situated along the northern shoulder, suddenly snapped at its base and fell directly into the path of the northbound van.

Fatal Injuries
Tragically, the impact of the tree striking with the van resulted in fatal injuries for both Boytchev and Nicacio. The Cobb County Medical Examiner’s Office declared them died at the spot.
