Authorities indicate that a road accident near York-Chester County on Wednesday afternoon claimed the lives of two people.
The York County Sheriff’s Office reports that it happened on S.C. 72 (Saluda Road), close to East Chapel Road, at roughly 3 p.m. on October 25. Saluda Road was closed in both directions for several hours due to an incident involving three cars.
Two vehicles, a 2004 Nissan Centra, and a 2000 BMW coupe, were heading north on Saluda when they collided with a 2013 Fork pickup that was heading south, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
The Centra’s driver and lone passenger perished. Due to injuries, two of the other drivers and two minors were sent to a local hospital.

At 4:15 p.m., deputies announced that the route would be closed for a “significant amount of time.” On the York County side, the detour was rerouted to East Chapel Road and Strait Road.
According to the S.C. Highway Patrol, the collision is still being looked into.
