A devastating incident occurred on Thursday evening in Dillon County, resulting in a fatal collision on South Carolina State Highway 38.

The crash, which took place close to Camp Road, just south of Latta around 6:20 p.m., claimed the life of one individual.

Details of the Accident

According to SCHP Master Trooper Mitchell Ridgeway, the collision involved a log truck that was reportedly disabled in the eastbound lane.

A 2020 Jeep traveling in the same direction rear-ended the stationary log truck. Remarkably, the driver of the log truck emerged unharmed from the crash.

Tragically, emergency medical services transported the Jeep’s driver to the hospital, while the passenger succumbed to injuries at the crash site. As of now, authorities have not released the identity of the deceased passenger.
