Trump slams Cheney’s WaPo report Staff discontent on Jan. 6

Former President Trump lashed out at retiring Representative Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.), who serves as vice chairperson of the House select committee examining the attack on the United States on January 6, 2021.

Capitol, due to a recent article in the Washington Post that claimed committee staff was annoyed by her emphasis on Trump in the report.

The committee will release its long-awaited report on its findings on January 6th, capping off a lengthy investigation.

Still, according to a report in The Washington Post, several current and former staff members are “angered and disillusioned” by how much of the draught report they say is dedicated to the former president.

When the Post’s headline read, “Jan. 6 panel staffers angry at Cheney for focusing so much of report on Trump.”

As Trump put it on Truth Social, Cheney “is a complete PSYCHO, has no regard for the truth as to what really happened, and is angry that the people of the Great State of Wyoming put her out to pasture in a record-setting defeat.”

This was in reference to Cheney’s loss in the Republican primary for her state earlier this year. Trump remarked, “She blames me for this, but she only has herself to blame.”

A representative for Cheney responded to the story in The Washington Post, arguing that the choice by Cheney and the panel to focus on Trump was necessary due to Trump’s role in the disturbance on January 6.

According to the spokesman, the committee’s report preparation process has resulted in some criticism because important information given by staff has been omitted.

The committee decided unanimously to subpoena Trump on January 6th, and the formal summons was issued the following week, listing 19 topics that they planned to discuss with the former president during his hearing.

The panel’s legislators wrote to Trump, “in sum. You were at the center of the first and only effort by a U.S. president to overturn and hinder the peaceful transition of power, ultimately resulting in a murderous attack on our own Capitol and on the Congress itself.”
