Triple Murder Suspect Faces New Charges In Shooting Case!
Authorities say a suspect in a California triple homicide who had been sought since January in connection with the deaths of his grandparents and uncle at their home was apprehended months later after allegedly ki!!ing a fourth person in broad daylight at a public park over the weekend.
After responding to a report of shots fired just before noon on Saturday in the southeast parking lot of Memorial Park, police detained Pete Anthony Renteria, 29, in Upland, a city located about 37 miles to the east of Los Angeles. A 34-year-old man was discovered by police with many gunshot wounds. Despite assistance from police officers and San Bernardino Fire personnel, the man was declared dead on the spot.
68-year-old Sonia Ramirez, 66-year-old George Ramirez, and 43-year-old David Ramirez were found shot to death in a home on Ramona Place in Ontario, a California city located only a few miles from Upland. Renteria is the main suspect in their deaths.
A family member set up a GoFundMe account months ago with the message, “Our family is devastated by the great loss we are suffering.”
“It is an understatement to say that George and Sonia Ramirez were devoted, compassionate, selfless and kind. As parents, their love was boundless. Our brother, David Ramirez, was our family protector, a doting father and an incredibly supportive son,” Michele Akbari, who identified herself as George and Sonia’s daughter and David’s big sister, wrote.
“We are relying on the Sheriff’s department to investigate and apprehend the person who committed this heinous act,” she added. “As we grieve, we ask for prayers and respect for our privacy so our family can process and mourn.”
Following the incident on Saturday, Upland officers swiftly tracked down Renteria nearby, detained him, and retrieved what authorities believe to be the weapon used, they said.
According to the police, the preliminary investigation indicates that Renteria and the victim had a prior argument at the same spot, and the suspect afterward returned to “specifically target the victim.” According to police, the event was “targeted and not a random act of violence against members of the public,” and the park has since been “thoroughly inspected and rendered safe.”

Renteria was apprehended after nine months on the run and taken into Upland police custody before being moved and lodged in the San Bernardino County Jail. According to online jail records, as of Monday, he was being held under a $3 million bond. The shooter’s victim from Saturday has not yet been made public. There isn’t a known motivation for any shooting.
