Tragic Collision On Great River Road Claims One Life
Following a multi-vehicle collision in the 1800 block of Great River Road, one person has died. All names are being withheld pending notifications to family, according to deputies.
According to a media release from the Scott County Sheriff’s Office, the Scott Emergency Communications Center (SECC) got a call about a three-vehicle crash at 18988 Great River Road on Tuesday at around 1:20 p.m.
The stretch of road is situated between Bettendorf and LeClaire in the southeast region of Scott County. According to deputies, it is a four-lane, clearly signposted concrete road that is also known as Highway 67. 55 mph is the posted speed limit in the region.
A 2019 white Buick Encore was traveling north (east) and was slowing down or stopping to make a left-handed turn, according to deputies’ on-scene investigation.
Deputies said that the Buick was forced into an oncoming lane of traffic after being struck from behind by a 2008 Lexus ES350. According to deputies, a 2017 Infiniti Q45 impacted the Buick on the passenger’s side while driving south-west.

According to deputies, the driver of the Lexus and Infiniti was brought to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The Buick’s driver was declared dead at the scene, according to deputies. According to the deputies, every passenger had their seatbelt on.
The sheriff’s office patrol, the Scott County Accident Response Team, and numerous other agencies also responded to offer assistance. For around thirty to forty-five minutes, Great River Road in the 1800 block was closed as emergency personnel cleared the site.
According to deputies, the crash is still being looked into.
