Tragic Accident Claims A Life On I-85 Business South In High Point!
According to Guilford County EMS, one individual has died as a result of an accident on Interstate 85 Business. Between I-74 West and Baker Road, in the southbound lanes, a tractor-trailer was one of the cars involved in the accident.
The North Carolina Department of Transportation reported that I-85 Business South was shut down around 1:47. Around seven o’clock, the road was reopened.
In response to a traffic accident with reported injuries, High Point police, High Point fire department personnel, and Guilford County EMS personnel were dispatched to US 29 South close to Baker Road around 1:40 p.m., according to a press release from the High Point Police Department.
When responding units got there, they discovered that a Toyota pickup truck had jumped the median and struck a tractor-trailer square in the head.
The SUV that was following the tractor-trailer was struck by the pickup truck after that.
The pickup truck’s driver passed away there and then. The driver’s identity won’t be released until his or her next of kin has been notified.

The tractor-trailer’s driver was transported to the hospital with minor injuries. The other vehicle’s driver was uninjured.
Investigators say the pickup truck driver lost control after swerving to go around a vehicle that was slowing to make a right turn onto Durand Avenue.
Nobody is anticipated to bring any charges. This is the tenth traffic fatality in High Point in 2023.
