In Columbia County, a man has been charged with the murder of his mother, who was stabbed to death.
On Wednesday afternoon, just before one o’clock, state police officers called to a residence located on the 3600 block of old Berwick Road in Scott Township, close to Bloomsburg.
When they arrived, they discovered the body of a woman lying on the front porch of the residence.

The woman, who has been identified as Bonnie Lou Cosper and is 82 years old, was allegedly stabbed to death by her son, James Gary Cosper, who is 60 years old.
The Forensic Unit of the State Police spent a significant amount of time searching inside the residence, taking photographs, and moving about the first and second levels before their arrival.
According to the state police, this is an isolated incidence, and there is no threat to the general public by any means.

It has been decided that an autopsy will be performed on Bonnie Cosper on Thursday.
In addition to other allegations, James Cosper is being charged with aggravated assault and homicide. Ten days from now, on January 10, there will be a preliminary hearing.
