The first section of the 23-mile project, which began construction in 2009, opened to the public in 2014.

Metro employees will meet riders at the new stations and present them with commemorative pennants, continuing a practise that dates back to the 1976 opening of the agency’s first station.

Customers will be able to get their bags at the Dulles station and then take a short underground tunnel walk (less than five minutes) to reach the Metrorail platform.
