The League of Legends Rework of Udyr Has Been Revealed: New features and a Release Date

In the PBE, Udyr

The PBE will remain available while fans wait for the new and improved Udyr. Here’s how to use and gain access to the PBE so you can spend time with Udyr.

Udyr will be the next champion to be honored in Visual Gameplay Update in 2022, but what do we know about the changes?

Udyr will finally get his long-awaited VGU in 2022. Players have requested this update for over a year, and it cannot come soon enough for jungle mains who enjoy slapping their enemies and running at them at full speed.

Sure, Bel’Veth can do those things with her unique four dashes, but Udyr is the OG, and he’ll roar and run straight at you from the jungle when he’s coming in for a swindle Riot has finally revealed all information we need about Udyr.

What is Riot Reworking in LoL Udyr VGU?

Udyr is one of the game’s most out-of-date champions, which is why Riot is reworking his abilities without jeopardizing Udyr’s essence as a champion. Regardless of whether he is out of date, he is an iconic champion in the game world. The team wants to keep him feeling that way.

Riot reworked Fiddlesticks in 2020, and the VGU received positive feedback because the kit is updated to fit into modern League of Legends. It retained its original appearance and didn’t deviate too much from its old equipment, including the essence of the Runeterran scarecrow. Riot is also working on the Udyr rework.

Revealed: Udyr’s Reworked Abilities

Trick2G, a well-known League of Legends streamer, was the first to reveal the rework, and Riot has now confirmed the new abilities. So, let’s see what the new Udyr can do compared to the old Udyr.

New Udyr Abilities Following VGU

Udyr’s New and Old Abilities

Udyr has four basic abilities that switch between stances instead of a traditional ultimate. During its cooldown, the champion can recast his Stance to Awaken it and revitalize it with the added effect.

Monk training: Udyr’s subsequent two attacks, made within four seconds of an Ability use, have a 30% faster attack speed after using an Ability. On every hit, 30% increased attack power and a 5% cooldown refund on impact.

After using an Ability, Udyr gains stacking Move Speed and Attack Speed. Udyr has four fundamental Abilities that he can use to switch between Stances. The passive and on-hit parts of the previous Stance terminate when changing stances.

Udyr gains 25% attack speed for four seconds while in the Wilding Stance. In this Stance, his subsequent two attacks maul the target, with a bonus of 3.2% max physical health damage.

Awaken: Increases attack speed by 34%. During this time, Udy’r’s subsequent two attacks summon lightning six times, dealing up to 10.6% maximum health magic damage to isolated targets.

Activation of the Tiger Stance: Udyr’s Attack Speed increased.

The first attack of Udyr, followed by every third, will all deal colossal damage over 2 seconds.

Udyr gains 63 shields for four seconds while in the Mantle Stance. In this Stance, his subsequent two attacks gain 10% life steal and restore 12 health on hit.

Awaken: Udyr’s shield increases to 178, and he regenerates 89 in four seconds. Stance bonuses were doubled during this time, the life on hit and life steal.

When Udyr activates the Turtle Stance, he gains a temporary shield that absorbs damage.

Udyr’s first attack and every third attack after that heals him for 2.5% of his maximum health.

Udyr’s movement speed increases by 30% for four seconds. Udyr’s attacks in this Stance also lunge at and stun targets.75 seconds. On each mark, this effect has a six-second cooldown.

Awaken Immunity to immobilizing and disabling effects, as well as an extra 32% move speed for 1.5 seconds.

Bear Stance: Activation – Udyr temporarily increases Move Speed.

Udyr’s basic attacks temporarily stun his target for 1 second. The effect on the same target multiple times in a row cannot repeat.

Storm Stance: For four seconds, Udyr surrounds himself in a glacial storm that deals 20 magic damage per second to enemies within and slows them by 15%. In this Stance, Udyr’s subsequent two attacks deal 14 magic damage to enemies in the storm.

Awaken: Let loose the storm, causing it to seek shelter nearby. [Sic] Deals an additional 9.4% maximum health damage for the rest of the duration.

Activation of the Phoenix Stance: Udyr unleashes pulsing waves of fire, damaging nearby enemies.

Udyr’s first attack, as well as every third attack after that, engulfs enemies in front of him in flames.

Udyr appears to be in a much better position with these ability changes. He will retain the melee fighter flavor that older Udyr players are accustomed to, while new LoL players will experience the thrill of playing a newly released champion. Hopefully, he lives up to the expectations.

Udyr Visual Redesign

Of course, a big part of the VGU is refreshing and renewing a champion’s model. It means that Riot will completely overhaul some champions. According to the rework team, Udyr went through several stages. Beginning with antlers removed later because the team “couldn’t get them to not look goofy because of how hunched over [Udyr] is.”

So, say goodbye to the idea of massive antlers and hello to a well-proportioned mountain man. The team concentrated on giving him long, thick hair to make him look like an older man living in the mountains. Once again, this is how he appeared essentially before, but his character model will be able to reflect the stances better and will look much cleaner once the rework is complete.

According to Udyr’s character artist, Jason “OOYOO” Namgung, the base body was easy to create, but the four stances were the most difficult.

His base body was simple, but his four stances were a significant challenge. We had to make sure that there were four of them, and each one enhanced the fantasy of the animal spirit with which it was associated.

Udyr’s Skins Reworked

Of course, as with every champion rework, we’ll get some new, reworked skins. The skins are getting a facelift, as are the splash arts, which is especially important for Udyr because he is one of League of Legends’ oldest champions.

Which Udyr Skins Will Be Reworked?

Udyr has a limited number of skins in his inventory, but one of them is an ultimate skin. Reworking a top skin will be the most challenging aspect of visually improving his cosmetics, as It is one of the game’s most expensive skin tiers; android will have to ensure that the new look is worth the price.
