The famous Duran Duran guitarist Andy Taylor says he is suffering from stage four cancer

The 61-year-bandmate old’s Simon Le Bon is worried that he won’t be “around for very long” due to the diagnosis made four years ago. Duran Duran announced it on Saturday (05.11.22) at the Microsoft Theatre in Los Angeles, where they were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Andy had planned to see his bandmates, singer Simon, keyboardist Nick Rhodes, bassist John Taylor, and drummer Roger Taylor, at the event, but he canceled since the trip from Ibiza to Los Angeles would have been too hard on his body and mind.

A letter that revealed the sad truth

In a letter read aloud by the band at the event, Andy said that he had received treatment that had prolonged his life despite his cancer. It read, “I was diagnosed with stage four metastatic prostate cancer a little over four years ago.”

Speaking from the perspective of a family man, but with profound humility to the band, the finest fans a group could have, and this extraordinary honor, I can attest to the slow burn of this sickness that has affected many families, including our own.

Until very recently, I could just rock on thanks to the “Rodgers and Edwards” of doctors (Duran Duran producers Nile Rodgers and Bernard Edwards), together with the help of modern medicine. No immediate danger to my life has been detected, yet there is no treatment for my disease.

I was doing well recently after some very advanced life-extending treatment; however, I recently experienced a setback, and despite the extraordinary efforts of my team, I had to be honest in saying that I would be pushing the limits of my physical and mental health.

Simon, 64, expressed his devastation at the revelation: “It is awful news to find out that a colleague, no not a colleague, a comrade, a friend, one of our family, is not going to be around for very long.

Although we care deeply about Andy, I refuse to sit here and cry. I realize it’s not the right thing to say, but that’s how I feel.
