The Child Tax Credit Non-Filer Tool has been closed, but you may still be eligible for stimulus funds.

It has been announced by the Internal Revenue Service that the “Non-Filers: Enter Payment Here” facility for claiming stimulus funds, including the advanced, increased Child Tax Credit for 2021, has been discontinued.

However, even if you don’t regularly file tax returns, you may be able to claim CTC, Economic Impact Payment, or Recovery Rebate Credit at no cost.

In order to claim the credits, you will need to file a 1040 or 1040-SR for the year 2020. If you are not obligated to file taxes on a regular basis, you can take advantage of the IRS Free File program.

Form 1040 for 2020 will provide the Internal Revenue Service with the information they require in order to grant your full CTC and/or any additional pandemic-related tax credits that you may be eligible for in the future.

Individuals who do not satisfy the IRS’s minimum income requirements can file their taxes for free under the IRS Free File program. If you have an adjusted gross income of $73,000 or less, including if you do not have any taxable income, go to the IRS Free File page and select one of the IRS Free File Offers that are available.

By answering a few simple questions, you will be able to file your taxes electronically. In the guided tax preparation program, the arithmetic is taken care of, and the program will ask you to file your return through an IRS partner site.

As part of the Free File program, you can sign up to receive your CTC and other tax credits via direct deposit or check if you file your taxes electronically.

The increased CTC is worth a total of $3,600 for each child under the age of six, and $3,000 for each child between the ages of six and seventeen. It is possible to claim any remaining credit if you receive a portion of the credit through advance CTC throughout 2021.

You can claim the remaining credit by filing your 2020 tax papers for free this year.
