Tax Credits for Children: $500 Payments and $175 in Tax Credits

In New Mexico state, a child tax credit rebate has been created that is worth $175 per child.

Worker families in New Mexico will benefit financially from a bill passed by the state.

State governments are now responsible for extending the child tax credit as Congress did not extend it, according to Fingerlakes.

A bill was passed on Feb. 14 that offers tax relief worth $380 million.

With the new child tax credit, residents can get a tax rebate of up to $175 for each child.

How Can I Get My Refund?

Your income determines your eligibility.

A tax rebate of $1,000 was also added for nurses who worked during the pandemic in New Mexico.

Individuals or couples earning over $100,000 or $150,000 will not qualify for the state’s Social Security tax exemption.

Also included in the bill are one-time tax rebates worth $250-$500.

Tax Credits for Massachusetts

Massachusetts lawmakers plan to provide low-income workers with $500 payments.

This is referred to COVID-19 Essential Employee Premium Pay Plan.

A worker must make at or below 300% of the federal poverty level to qualify for the payment.

Unemployment benefits cannot have been received in 2020.

Nonetheless, the end of March is the expected date for payments.

Federal CTC Ending

Tax credits for children will end on December 31, 2021.

Despite the fact that the Build Back Better bill has not passed, Biden hoped and worked to extend the credits through 2022.

In 2021, the amount will be $3,600 for children under the age of 6 and $3,000 for children between 6-17.

Parents had received the first half of the credit from July to December, and the second half will be sent out along with tax refunds.
