SUV Collision Claims One Life And Injures Three Near Fiery Mundelein!
An SUV struck a tree and burst into flames, ki!!ing the driver and seriously injuring three passengers Saturday near Mundelein, the Lake County sheriff’s office said.
According to the sheriff’s office, the collision took place in the 29000 block of Gilmer Road at around 4:45 p.m.
The 2019 Ford Expedition’s driver, a 66-year-old Mundelein male, abruptly swerved to the right and then to the left before exiting the road and hitting the tree, according to police. The incident occurred while the vehicle was traveling north on Gilmer.
When the police arrived, the car was on fire. The driver could not exit the car and was declared dead at the site.
A passenger, a 36-year-old Grayslake man, was ejected. He was transported by helicopter to the burn unit at Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood and was reported in critical condition, police said.

Two further passengers, both 30-year-old guys from Chicago, managed to escape the blazing vehicle. According to the police, they had serious injuries and were rushed to the hospital.
The victim’s identity has not been made public by the authorities. Police stated they were unsure of the SUV’s swerving’s cause. Investigations into the incident are still ongoing.
