When a stranger approached a local girl who didn’t recognize him, baristas at a Texas Starbucks jumped into action to make sure she was okay — and their efforts are now going viral.
The 18-year-mother, old’s Brandy Roberson, published the story on her Facebook page on Friday, along with a photo of the barista’s creative gesture to her daughter: a handwritten note on a coffee cup, which she put alongside the story.
“Do you think you’re okay? Do you want us to step in and help? “If you do, remove the lid from the cup,” the notification stated explicitly.
She told TODAY Food that her daughter, who asked to remain anonymous, was studying alone at a Starbucks in Corpus Christi on a Saturday night when the incident occurred.
“She wished to get out of the house and find a quiet place to relax and do her homework. “She enjoys going to coffee shops to study,” she wrote in an email to me.
Roberson said on Facebook that a barista had given her daughter “an extra hot chocolate someone had forgotten to pick up” after the stranger began conversing with her kid.
When the adolescent returned home, she immediately informed her mother about the incident, which made her heart warm.
According to Roberson, “she was holding the cup and knew that I would appreciate it if someone did it for her.” “It made me feel so relieved that the Starbucks employees were keeping an eye out for her safety. As a mother, it is my greatest dread that something might happen to my child and that no one would be there to assist her.”
Afterward, Roberson’s daughter reported that the adult male waited for quite some time and spoke: “very loudly.”
“It sounded like he was pretty excited,” I recall thinking. I assume it was this that tipped off the employees. “He had also not come in with my kid, so they were aware that she was likely unfamiliar with him,” she stated.
The adolescent expressed her gratitude to the barista for her thoughtful gesture and informed them that she felt safe. He eventually realized that she was conversing with the employees and proceeded about his business, abandoning the 18-year-old to her own devices.
TODAY reached out to Starbucks for additional information, but the corporation declined to provide any information.
Roberson stated that she had no expectation that her tale would go viral and that she simply wanted to convey her gratitude to the considerate personnel who had helped her. However, she is pleased that it has shone a favorable light on the efforts of local workers.
“My sincere gratitude goes out to everyone on the team. I hope that we can all learn from their mistakes and that we will be willing to assist anyone who appears to be in need of assistance,” she explained.
