After allegedly fleeing the scene of a fatal accident, a Johnson man has been placed under arrest.
According to a press statement from the Springdale Police Department, on November 6, at 9:45 a.m., officers were called to a three-vehicle collision near Thompson Street and West Meadow Avenue.
Officers discovered Michael Castillo, 26, and Vilma Estrada, 63, riding in a 2004 Toyota Camry. They both hail from California’s Culver City. First responders tried to save Castillo’s and Estrada’s lives. Their wounds eventually claimed their lives.
The second car was a blue 2016 Toyota Highlander driven by Lowell resident Daniel Reding, 69. His wounds weren’t life-threatening.
The third car, a blue 2011 Lexus LS, is said to have left the scene but was shortly found. The driver was identified as 35-year-old Detrick Mitchell.
According to the announcement, the investigation showed that when the Lexus rear-ended the Camry as it was heading north on Thompson Street in the inside lane, the Camry veered into oncoming southbound traffic and collided with the Highlander.
