The Schedule of Social Security payments for 2022 has been released by the Social Security Administration.
Payments from Social Security are made according to a person’s birthday, with a few exceptions.
These are the general payment methods:
- If your birthday falls between the 1st and 10th of a month, your payment will be on the second Wednesday of the month;
- If your birthday falls between the 11th and 20th of a month, your payment will be on the third Wednesday of the month; and
- If your birthday falls on the 20th and beyond of a month, your payment will be on the fourth Wednesday of the month.
The calendar for the payment has been released by the Social Security Administration to make sure recipients keep track of when their checks will be deposited by the government.
As of January 1, Social Security payments, along with Supplemental Security Income (SSI) payments, will increase by 6.2% in benefits over 2021, — the largest increase in more than four decades.

Beneficiaries of SSI are those with limited income and resources, as well as the disabled, blind, and the elderly (65 or older).
The birthday rule is subject to some exceptions.
- If the following conditions occur, the SSA will send payments on the 3rd of each month:
- If you filed for benefits before May 1, 1997;
- If you collect Social Security and an SSI payment;
- If your Medicare premiums are paid for by the state where you live; or
- If you reside in another country.
Payments are received by SSI recipients (who do not receive a Social Security check at the same time) every month, on the 1st.
