SNAP and Social Security Recipients Will Now Receive Their Benefits Faster Under This New Order

As part of an executive order signed by President Joe Biden, people filing for SNAP and Social Security benefits will get those benefits sooner.

The IRS will no longer place Americans on hold to process their applications.
Social Security beneficiaries will access an online tool to speed up the application process. In addition, Medicare recipients will access a portal to help them save money on healthcare and prescriptions.

Biden also wants to speed up airport security, make filing tax returns and getting refunds more straightforward, and make disaster aid disbursements faster by allowing people to apply for food stamps.

How will benefits work over the holidays?

SSI recipients will see their January payment in December when the holidays fall. Social Security payments will continue to be made on Wednesdays.

You should contact your state’s EBT office for more information about food stamps.
