Second Suspect Arrested in Salt Lake City Shooting Case

A second suspect has been taken into custody by the Salt Lake City Police Department in connection with a shooting that occurred at a house party in October and resulted in the injury of a guy who was 20 years old.

On Wednesday, December 6, the police said that they were able to safely take Rene Chacon, who is 19 years old, into custody and book him into the Salt Lake County Jail.

Due to the fact that he is accused of lying to detectives while they were conducting their investigation, he is facing a single count of obstruction of justice.

A 19-year-old man was arrested Wednesday in connection to a Salt Lake City shooting that injured one person:

Chacon was reportedly present at the massive house party that took place on October 8 close to the intersection of 900 South and Edison Street, as reported by the Salt Lake City Police Department.

Allegedly, a struggle broke out during the party, which resulted in the victim of the shooting, who was twenty years old, suffering injuries that were not considered to be life-threatening.

According to the allegations, Chacon and Andre Ruiz, who is 19 years old and is accused of shooting the victim, managed to flee the area after the occurrence. According to the allegations, Chacon denied knowing that Ruiz had shot the victim during the initial interrogation.

Check out some of the latest shooting news:

Ruiz was taken into jail without incident the previous week, and the police said that they discovered that Chacon may have lied during the interview, so they conducted another interview with him. Chacon is said to have stated that he was aware that Ruiz had shot the victim and that he actually drove Ruiz away.

In the meantime, Chacon and Ruiz are both being held without bail during the preliminary hearing that is currently taking place.
