School Counselor Accused Of Having An Inappropriate Relationship With A Student In Loudoun County

The sheriff’s office had described the counselor’s relationship with a student as “inappropriate,” and she will face criminal charges as a result.

According to the sheriff’s office, Ann Barrett, 42, of Ashburn was charged with exercising indecent liberties with a child.

School district officials began investigating after learning of the allegations in May 2021.

During the victim’s years at Freedom High School, where Barrett served as a school counselor, the victim and Barrett reportedly had a relationship between 2013 and 2015.

After the inappropriate relationship found in Loudoun County high school, the Loudoun school system has gained national attention.

The defendant was, however, released from Loudoun County Adult Detention Center on a $10,000 secured bond.

To protect the former student’s identity, no further information regarding the victim was being released.
