San Francisco’s Iconic Doughnut Store Opens Two More Outlets

Since the 1960s, Bob’s Donuts on Polk Street has been a Nob Hill institution. People wait in line at all hours of the day and night because the business is open nonstop and because its apple fritters and enormous donuts are so famous.

Aya Ahn, the current owner, has been running the shop and baking the tasty delights for nearly twenty years. The Bob’s @ 601 Baker St. site opened up quite recently.

The store is expanding beyond the confines of the city for the first time, opening up stores in two different cities. The San Francisco Chronicle reports that the first will be located at 252 Almonte Blvd. in Mill Valley and will open by the end of the month.

To the dismay of Mill Valley locals, the daily reports that its initial business hours would be Monday through Friday, from 5 a.m. to 5 p.m. The second spot will be in Santana Row, San Jose’s ritzy shopping neighborhood.

According to the article, a potential grand opening date of summer 2023 has been set for the site. Mill Valley is a significant meeting for the owners because it is the place where Ahn reared her daughter.
According to the article, Ahn’s mother Eleanor bought Bob’s in 1977 and it has been in the family ever since.
