One person has died after a tractor-trailer crash that caused lane closures Monday morning on Route 34 in Orange, according to police. According to police, the collision has shut down both the east and west lanes of Route 34 between Mapledale Road and Racebrook Road.
At a press conference, Orange Fire Department Fire Chief Vaughan Dumas stated that personnel were called to the collision at the intersection of Racebrook Road and Orange Center Road at approximately 3:55 a.m.
According to Dumas, the tractor-trail struck another car at the junction while it was heading west on Route 34. After that, the tractor-trailer veered off the road and collided with a tree and a telephone pole.
One of the passengers in the struck vehicle passed away from their wounds. With only minor injuries, the tractor-trailer driver was sent to a nearby hospital. According to Dumas, it is currently unknown how many passengers were involved in the collision.

The area’s power was turned off, and state police were dispatched to help with the collision.
Police said they expect the lanes to remain closed for the next few hours, but they have not given an ETA on when they will reopen.
