They are charged with the 26-year-old Marco Escayola’s murder. Sergeant N. Miyako of the HPD Homicide Division and Detective C. Bowling reported:
When police arrived at the aforementioned motel in response to a report of a shooting call, they discovered Mr. Escayola unconscious on the balcony of the second floor. He was declared dead on the spot by the responding paramedics from the Houston Fire Department.

Detectives discovered Escayola got into a confrontation with a suspect who was only identified as a male black person. The suspect shot him after he grabbed a revolver during the altercation. After that, the suspect left the area in an unidentified way.
Veal and Barber were charged after an additional investigation revealed them to be suspects in this case. Last Thursday, October 26, members of the HPD South Gessner Patrol Division’s Crime Suppression Team apprehended both individuals without any problems.
