Philly-to-South Jersey Chase Not Linked to Horrific Shooting: Police

On Wednesday night, police launched a chase in Philadelphia and followed the suspects all the way to South Jersey.

At first, the police thought the car had something to do with the terrible shooting that happened in Kensington last Saturday. But they later found out that it didn’t.
A 26-year-old male was arrested and charged with narcotics possession.

All Began in Kensington at 9:30 p.m.

Officers on routine patrol between Frankford and Allegheny avenues saw a Honda that matched the description used in two recent shootings, including the nine-person shooting outside a Kensington club late Saturday night.

Immediately, a police helicopter took off and followed the car as it left Kensington and crossed the Tacony Palmyra Bridge into New Jersey.

When he got to the intersection of Evesham Road and Route 73, he turned into the Bradley Funeral Home parking lot. The driver got out of the car and made a break for some nearby trees.

When the police issued warnings, neighbours advised one another to remain inside and lock their doors.

Marlton resident Gerry Capistrano stated, “The text our neighbour received indicated we should remain inside.”

Moments later, the motorist was in police custody in Evesham Township.

Police in Philadelphia transported the car to a station where it could be examined more closely.

Subsequent investigation by the police cleared the vehicle of any connection to the two previous shootings in the Kensington neighbourhood.
