Pennsylvania Woman Killed in Head-on Collision on I-795 in Maryland

The Maryland State Police say that a woman from Pennsylvania died in Maryland on Wednesday after two cars that crashed in the southbound lanes of I-795 went into the northbound lanes of the highway.

In the first crash, a 2011 Ford F150 pickup truck driven by 23-year-old Lashawn Wiley of Baltimore and a 2005 Ford F350 were in the northbound lanes, police said.

A Pennsylvania woman died in a two-vehicle crash in Maryland on Wednesday:

The two cars hit the metal wire barrier between the lanes going south and north before going into traffic, according to the police. The driver of the 2017 Toyota Rav4, Kaitlin Stranick, 30, from Hanover, Pennsylvania, hit the Ford F350 head-on at that point.

Police said that the Baltimore County Fire Department confirmed her death at the scene of the accident. According to the police, a 2016 Toyota Corolla also crashed into the first crash’s debris.

Police said the 23-year-old guy who was driving the Ford F350 was taken to a nearby hospital to get medical care for his wounds. The drivers of the other cars were not hurt.

Authorities say that the northbound lanes of I-795 were closed for four hours while the Maryland State Police Crash Team looked into the fatal accident.

The Maryland State Police Crash Team will send their results to the Baltimore County State’s Attorney’s Office once the investigation is over. That office will decide if charges should be brought, according to the police.
