SAN FRANCISCO – San Francisco man convicted this week of luring a 13-year-old girl to his Mission District apartment and raping her.
For the rape in May 2016, Benjamin Caal charged of aggravated sexual assault on a child and kidnapping.
The victim resided in the same apartment complex as Caal, 33, according to officials.

“Horrific acts of violence like those committed by Caal against children or anybody else in our community have no place in our society. We will always pursue justice for victims of sexual assault and abuse.”
The San Francisco Police Department’s Special Victims Unit led the investigation and worked with prosecutors over a number of years to build a case against Caal.
Sentence on November 4
Assistant District Attorney Brad Allred said, “I would want to thank the jury members for their time and careful consideration of the facts presented during this trial.”
Even while this judgement cannot reverse what occurred, I hope it will provide some peace and solace to our courageous survivor and her family.
Since his arrest in 2016, Caal has been detained in lieu of a $1 million bond.
The date of his sentencing is November 4.
