NYC’s Balthazar Bans James Corden for Being the “Most Abusive Customer,” Owner

On Monday, famed New York City restaurateur Keith McNally posted on Instagram that James Corden had been banned from one of his places. The Late Late Show host was referred to as the rudest customer in the restaurant’s 25-year existence.

McNally began his post with the statement, ” James Corden is a hugely gifted comedian, but a tiny Cretin of a man”.  He said  Corden was the most abusive customer to his Balthazar servers since the restaurant opened 25 years ago. “I don’t often 86 a customer, [but] today I 86’d Corden. It did not make me laugh.” added the owner.

Two instances were given by McNally, one of which occurred in June when Corden complained to the manager about a hair after finishing the main meal. The restaurant’s manager claimed that Corden was “very hostile” to him and demanded another complimentary round in addition to the restaurant paying for his table’s previous drinks.

In the second incident, Corden is said to have visited the restaurant again earlier this month with his wife. According to McNally, the comic informed their server that there was “a little bit of egg white” in her omelet made with egg yolks. The dish was redone in the kitchen with home fries added in place of the salad that his wife had originally asked for.

At that point, James Corden started screaming angrily at the waiter, telling him, ‘You can’t do your job! You can’t do your job! Maybe I should go into the kitchen and cook the omelette myself,’”  as per McNally. Although the manager was able to fix the situation, McNally had clearly reached her breaking point.

Later on Monday night, McNally uploaded a follow-up post, which offered a plot twist. He stated,  “James Corden just called me and apologized profusely”. “Having fucked up myself more than most people, I strongly believe in second chances. So if James Corden lets me host his Late Late Show for 9 months, I’ll immediately rescind his ban from Balthazar. No, of course not. But….anyone magnanimous enough to apologize to a deadbeat layabout like me (and my staff) doesn’t deserve to be banned from anywhere. Especially Balthazar. So Come Back to the 5 & Dime, Jimmy Corden, Jimmy Corden. All is Forgiven. xx”, he added.

The Late Late Show presenter James Corden, who will leave his position the next year, may not care if there is a ban or not. Variety reports that after his eight-year career on the late-night show concludes, he will probably move back to the U.K.
