Early on Friday morning in Libertyville, firefighters responding to a structure fire report saw flames originating from a residence and rapidly spreading.
In response to a report of a structure fire, the Libertyville Police Department and Fire Department arrived at the 1100 block of Fairlawn Avenue in Libertyville at 5:55 a.m. on Friday.

When firefighters arrived, they discovered flames in the back of the house that had spread to the attic, according to Libertyville Deputy Fire Chief Steven Holtz.
According to Holtz, firefighters put out the fire with great effort and carried out overhaul procedures to make sure it was extinguished. It took fewer than twenty minutes to declare the fire under control. There were no reported injuries.

According to Holtz, there was smoke and fire damage to the house. During the event, Libertyville fire stations were covered by a change of quarters units that triggered the Mutual Aid Box Alarm System (MABAS) to the box level.
During the event, assistance was provided by the fire departments of Countryside, Lincolnshire, Mundelein, Zion, Lake Forest, Newport, Grayslake, Lake Villa, Lake Zurich, and Buffalo Grove. According to Holtz, the cause of the fire is still being looked into.
