An armed robbery response in suburban Chicago resulted in a gunfight, resulting in the death of a second suspect and the injury of a police officer.
On Saturday, a court did not release a man charged in a shooting that resulted in the death of a second suspect and the injury of a police officer in suburban Chicago who had responded to a report of an armed robbery.
After the incident on Thursday, police in Chicago detained Anthony C. Brown Jr., who is now facing charges of attempted first-degree murder, aggravated violence, aggravated discharge of a firearm, and armed robbery.
During a hearing on Saturday, a judge in DuPage County, Illinois, decided against releasing him on bail.
The 31-year-old Brown is not accused of firing a gun in the incident that resulted in the injury and subsequent death of a Lombard police officer and another suspect, Pierre Thompson.
However, according to The (Arlington Heights) Daily Herald, Brown can be held responsible for offenses associated with the robbery because he reportedly participated in it.
According to assistant state’s attorney Joseph Lindt, Brown and Thompson took $600 from a store along with cash and a knapsack from a worker.
According to him, Thompson opened fire on two responding Lombard police officers, striking both of them seven times.
When 33-year-old Detective Ryan Postal got out of his car, he was shot in the right thigh, breaking a bone.
During surgery on Thursday, a rod was inserted into his leg, and Lindt warned full healing could take up to a year.
One of the detectives who attended to the robbery in Lombard, some 32 kilometers (20 miles) west of Chicago, was shot, but he survived.
