This past weekend, 34-year-old singer Aaron Carter was discovered lifeless in his bathtub at home. An official cause of death has not been disclosed at this time.

My Heart is Devastated

While the two “had a tumultuous relationship,” Nick Carter, of the Backstreet Boys, writes in an Instagram post today, “My heart is devastated,” adding that his love for his brother “has never ever faded.” He includes a number of images of the two of them when they were younger.

Nick Carter, whose brother Aaron Carter had a singing career before he was a teenager. But was also open about his struggles with drug abuse as an adult, writes in a Facebook post that he “always held on to the hope” that his brother would “somehow, someday, want to walk a healthy path and eventually find the help that he so desperately needed.”

He adds that although it’s human nature to want to assign blame after a loss, “the fact is” that addiction and mental illness are “the true enemies here.”

“I shall miss my brother more than anybody would ever know.” Nick Carter concluded his message. You’re the best, Chizz. Get ready to experience a level of calm you thought was impossible to attain on this planet… “I adore you, little brother.”

A representative for the Backstreet Boys confirmed to Variety that the group’s European tour, which includes a performance at London’s O2 stadium later today, will go on as scheduled (at least as of right now).

Variety reports, nevertheless, that several of the tour’s accompanying activities, such as meet-and-greets, have been scrapped. But the Backstreet Boys have yet to issue a social media comment on the tour’s fate.
