A pilot program launched in Texas is now going big nationwide after the United States
With the expansion of USPS Connect, the US Postal Service is targeting nationwide implementation by the end of the year, Freight waves reported.
There are four different ways to use USPS Connect, but they are all designed to help small businesses succeed in a world that needs fast shipping.
“USPS Connect provides businesses of all sizes what they have been asking for — an affordable way to meet consumer demand for fast delivery,” Postmaster General and CEO Louis DeJoy asplained in a statement.
“A pivotal point in our Delivering for America plan, it positions us to more fully leverage our network capacity to increase volume and revenue so we can continue to serve the American people with affordable, reliable mail and package delivery.”
The rollout includes USPS Connect Local, USPS Connect Regional, USPS Connect National and USPS Connect Returns.
The USPS Connect Local service allows businesses to offer next-day delivery in all locations, as well as same-day delivery and Sunday pickup in selected areas. USPS Connect Local Mail includes First-Class mail for documents weighing up to 13 ounces.
You can either inject packages and mail into the USPS Connect local facility on the receiving dock or pick them up free when the mail carrier delivers them. With Click-N-Ship from the United States Postal Service, you can ship flat-rate bags, boxes, and envelopes for free.
Businesses can make use of USPS Connect Regional for next-day deliveries within a regional area and for Parcel Select lightweight packages.
First-Class package service, Parcel Select Ground and Retail Ground are among the delivery solutions provided by USPS Connect National.
Businesses can offer their customers en route returns that their carrier can pick up or drop off at a nearby post office using USPS Connect Returns.
“We’ve listened carefully to our business customers to develop this program,” Jakki Krage Strako, chief commerce and business solutions officer, said. “We’re increasing next-day deliveries. We’re also giving smaller businesses big-business rates and all businesses more user-friendly ways to interact with us.”
The Postal Service announced USPS Connect last September, launching the pilot in Texas.
The effort made shipping rates that had only previously been available to high-volume customers possible for smaller businesses, many of which are being thrust into the world of e-commerce and its fast shipping expectations.

Last September, the Postal Service introduced USPS Connect, launching a pilot program in Texas.
With these efforts, shipping rates previously reserved for high-volume customers became available to smaller businesses, which are being thrust into an e-commerce world with fast shipping expectations.
DeJoy is also seeking to remake the Postal Service in order to compete with Amazon, FedEx, and UPS. USPS Connect is one of DeJoy’s parcel programs announced in early 2021. Postal Service projects that the program and the broader Delivering for America initiative will generate $24 billion by 2030.
Postal Service mails to almost every address in the U.S., giving it frequent contact with a large majority of the population.
Despite this, the demands of e-commerce with next-day and even same-day shipping are undeniably straining logistics.
FedEx (No. 1) and UPS (No. 2) are included in Freightwaves’ list of TOP 500 for-hire carriers.
