New Mall Field Office Opened By The Beachwood Police

The inauguration of Beachwood Police’s field office at Beachwood Place mall, 26300 Cedar Road, was announced on Friday, November 4. The office is on the second floor of the mall, close to the food court, and in a prominent location. The BPD welcomes visitors to the office to take a look around and say hello to the on-site officers.

The mall field office is a part of Chief Kate McLaughlin’s community outreach program, which has the explicit objective of bringing BPD officers and the community together. Strong relationships that promote trust between our police department and the community are essential to sustaining public safety and confidence, according to a release from Beachwood police.

It was stated in July that Beachwood police would receive $559,073 in American Rescue Plan Act funding from the government, as disbursed by Gov. Mike DeWine’s office, to recruit two new officers. The BPD was able to deploy two officers at the mall field office thanks to this funding. “We encourage collaboration between the community and our police force, and this is a terrific tool to deliver on that purpose,” stated Mayor Justin Berns in the official statement.

“We think a more noticeable presence at Beachwood Place will go a long way toward improving neighborhood relations,” McLaughlin said. An office will operate out of this location as a satellite during Beachwood Place hours.

The Beachwood Place was thanked by the BPD for helping to establish the new field office.
