Nancy Pelosi’s Husband Paul Pelosi is Hospitalised With Fractured Skull

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s husband Paul was hit with a hammer at their California home on Friday, resulting in a fractured skull and a trip to the hospital. The perpetrator reportedly yelled, “Where is Nancy? Is Nancy here?

Drew Hammill, Nancy Pelosi’s longtime spokesman, said that 82-year-old Paul Pelosi had “successful surgery” to heal a broken skull and other “severe injuries” he got in the attack, and he is expected to make a full recovery.

Hammill claimed in a statement on Friday afternoon that “earlier this morning, Paul Pelosi was assaulted at his house by an intruder who behaved with force and threatened his life while demanding to see the speaker.”

According to San Francisco police, Paul Pelosi called 911 on Friday at 2.27am local time. He did not mention anything specifically, but the dispatcher ordered officers to check on him as a precaution. They discovered a grown man arguing with Paul Pelosi over a hammer.

It was said that the suspect yanked the hammer out of Pelosi’s hands and viciously attacked him with it. Within seconds, our officers had the subject on the ground, unarmed and in custody,” stated San Francisco Police Chief Bill Scott.

Numerous Cases

Scott identified the intruder as 42-year-old David DePape and claimed he entered via a rear door. Cases involving attempted murder, assault with a dangerous weapon, elder abuse, burglary, and other crimes will be filed at the San Francisco county jail.

Even as Friday night drew to a close, DePape remained hospitalized. However, the chief would not comment on his whereabouts.

Scott said, “This was not a random act; this was purposeful.” Police are currently looking into the motivation.

According to CNN’s reporting, the suspect planned to tie up the victim “until Nancy arrived home” and had posted right-wing and conspiracy theories online, including information supporting the false claim that Donald Trump was denied victory in the 2020 election due to voting fraud.

A buddy of DePape’s indicated in a statement to CNN that he seemed “out of touch with reality.” DePape, who grew up in British Columbia, Canada, is said to be alienated from his family, according to two of the suspect’s relatives who spoke to the network.

DePape is said to have run a site where he often wrote screeds on the “ruling elite,” in addition to the many conspiracy postings on his Facebook account, which were seen by CNN and then removed by Meta on Friday.

Full of Conspiracy Theories

The San Francisco Chronicle analysed the site and found it to be full of conspiracy theories concerning the government, the media, and internet businesses, among others. The blog was subsequently taken down.

Vice President Joe Biden called the attack on Speaker of the House Paul Pelosi “despicable.” He also said that rumours of stolen elections are “corrosive” and “contribute” to political violence.

At a Friday night fundraiser for the Democratic Party in Philadelphia, Biden urged attendees, “Enough is enough is enough.” “Regardless of your political affiliation, every person of good conscience must speak out unequivocally against the violence in our politics.”

Biden in Philadelphia

In a fiery address delivered in Philadelphia last month, Biden said of the risks of extremism: “This year, the fate of our democracy is on the ballot, and I don’t use that phrase lightly.”

According to the president, there is evidence that the perpetrator in the assault on Paul Pelosi was targeting Nancy Pelosi; he pointed out that the assailant chanted “Where’s Nancy?” in his attack, much like Trump supporters did when they invaded the Capitol on January 6, 2021.

When asked about the potential impact of one party’s repeated claims about stolen elections on “those who may not be so well-balanced,” Biden said it shouldn’t come as a surprise.

The AP reports that the assailant intended to strike the Pelosi residence in particular. Breakage into the home may have happened via a side door, as shown on surveillance film.

The next in line for the presidency was not at home at the time of the assault, but rather in Washington, DC, where she was under the constant watch of the security detail that is part of her usual operating procedure.

Her spouse was attacked and had head and bodily damage. His right arm and hands were severely injured, resulting in bruising, edoema, and other symptoms, so he was sent to Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital.

Nancy Pelosi Returned to San Francisco on Friday Afternoon

On Friday morning, the motive for the assault was still unknown, but it had already caused concern for the safety of members of Congress and their families.

A new period of violent threats against US senators and their families and employees has raised concerns, especially in the wake of the rebellion by hardline followers of Donald Trump determined to reverse his defeat to Joe Biden.

During the melee, as she and other authorities sought cover from the mayhem, Nancy Pelosi took command, as recently released film shows. A guy who had seized the platform during the uprising has been found guilty and given a lengthy jail term.

Allocated $10,000

Members of Congress were each allocated $10,000 in July to spend on home security upgrades in light of recent events. Some people have argued for more security by saying that strangers have shown up at their doors and that threatening messages are often sent.

Both major party leaders have condemned the incident, which came as the midterm election was heating up.

On Friday morning, Vice President Biden contacted House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, and the White House said that he was “quite delighted that a complete recovery is predicted.”
