A Pontiac guy was charged with several felonies, one of which was open murder in connection with the shooting death of a Pontiac youngster on October 28.
In addition, K’Nique Djon Lawrence faces two counts of possessing a handgun while committing a felony and possession of a firearm by a felon for the alleged offense.
“I continue to be proud of the great work our whole team is doing to bring a sliver of closure to the family and community in this horrific case,” Oakland County Sheriff Michael Bouchard said. “Holding the perpetrators accountable is a step in that direction.”

Desiree Childs, 16, is alleged to have been fatally injured by the 32-year-old while she was strolling close to the intersection of South Johnson and Menominee in Pontiac.
After being shot in the chest, Desiree’s body was discovered on the street. After being brought to the hospital, she passed away from her wounds.

Detectives from the Sheriff’s Office learned during the inquiry that Lawrence might be lodging at a nearby motel. Without incident, the authorities placed Lawrence under surveillance and hauled him into arrest.
According to the Oakland County Sheriff, Lawrence has prior felony convictions from 2010 for two counts of armed robbery and from 2017 for receiving and concealing stolen property.
On November 16th, he will appear before Judge Bowie for a conference regarding probable cause.
