Police Say Motive for LA Stabbing Spree is Unknown

A day after a security officer shot and killed a man after he stabbed two people inside a Target store in downtown Los Angeles, much remained unknown about what prompted the guy to go on a rampage inside the store.

The culprit, a 40-year-old homeless guy, has been named, but as of Wednesday, his name has not been made public.

Before hitting them with a knife he grabbed from the shop, the attacker was hurling racist remarks at customers, witnesses told KTLA. The knife’s length was estimated to be around 7 inches.

Authorities informed that they were still investigating the cause of the brutal stabbing spree at the Target along Figueroa and 7th streets.

Around 6:30 p.m., a man rushed down many aisles inside the store and appeared to stab a number of people at random. A 9-year-old boy was stabbed in the shoulder, and one woman was struck in the chest.

The 25-year-old lady is in critical condition after having surgery when she arrived at the hospital, according to the authorities.

The child was taken to the hospital, where it was last reported that he or she was in a critical but stable state due to possible brain damage from the stab wounds. Another woman reportedly was trampled as shoppers exited the store, resulting in her receiving minor injuries.

The man was fatally shot after he allegedly lunged at the security officer while attempting to leave. The Los Angeles Police Department is looking into the stabbing, but there are currently no updates on the victims’ status or the identity of the suspect.
