Mayor’s Race in Chicago- Former Illinois Gov. Pat Quinn Announced that He would not be Joining the Race

Even though the election for mayor of Chicago is still over a hundred days away, many people have already declared their intention to run. There are currently 14 names on the list, but we will know if they are cut until the nominations are due next week.

Pat Quinn announced his decision during a press conference

Ex-Illinois Governor Pat Quinn is not running for reelection “After giving it a lot of thought, I’ve decided not to run for mayor of Chicago,” Quinn stated. “I appreciate all the support from those who saw my potential and urged me to participate in this race.”

Thursday night at the Allegro Hotel, Quinn corrected the record. The former governor had been dropping hints about a mayoral run for months. Quinn stated that he would not seek election since he is committed to facilitating citizen petitions for local and statewide ballot initiatives.
