Medina, Alex September 23, 2022 Heights of Boyle Safety 247 in Focus While driving. A 23-year-old man was fatally shot near the intersection of Folsom. In Mott Streets on September 16 in what police believe was a gang-related incident.
The shooting occurred around 10:05 p.m. It resulted in a collision with a parked car on the 2500 block of Folsom St.
According to a Los Angeles Police Department spokesperson. The victim was driving on Folsom when the suspect pulled up beside him in a vehicle. The suspect, who police believe is affiliated with a local gang, shot into the victim’s car before fleeing.
According to authorities, the victim’s vehicle continued forward before colliding with the parked car.
While police only identified the driver as a Latino male in his twenties. A review of County Coroner records indicates that the victim was Efrain Moreno Jr., 23. According to the coroner’s report, the man died from a headshot wound.
This is the 15th homicide reported in Boyle Heights in 2022. That is only one this month.
The shooting was first reported on the Instagram account @angnews. which stated that police and fire departments responded to the shooting. That the victim was declared dead at the scene.
That the LAPD’s Hollenbeck division was in charge of the investigation: The report was reposted on the Eastside accounts @eastlosangeles90022 and @boylehts, which published links to a gofundme fundraising account set up by Moreno’s family for his burial, as well as a car wash and food sale fundraiser scheduled for Saturday, September 24, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Wabash Avenue between Mott St. and Forest Ave.
