In Turlock, a hit-and-run accident on Monday afternoon claimed a man’s life. A car and pedestrian collided in the 3100 block of West Christoffersen Parkway, prompting the call to Turlock police just before 6:00 p.m.
A male with severe head damage was found in the center median by the responding officers. After being taken to a nearby hospital by the Turlock Fire Department and American Medical Response staff, the guy was declared deceased.
The light-colored Hummer (H2) that struck the victim was characterized by witnesses as having been manufactured somewhere between 2003 and 2009.
The moment following the collision, the unidentified driver was observed traveling east.
For almost six hours, the road was blocked off while investigators from the Major Accident Investigation Team (M.A.I.T.) collected evidence and looked for surveillance footage.

The man who died has been identified as 33-year-old Turlock resident Shane Hurst. He was reportedly struck by a car while riding his bicycle home.
M.A.I.T. Investigators are trying to piece together what happened during the traffic incident by looking through witness accounts and inspecting evidence.
Officer Michael Simbalenko said, “This investigation is a top priority for the Traffic Safety Unit. I ask that anyone who may have information about the identity of the responsible suspect or who may have seen the light-colored Hummer, to please contact the Traffic Safety Unit.”
